Hi I'm Lucy Stent , I am 29 and in my second year of a PhD focusing on machine learning, while teaching at Falmouth University- Games Academy.
I was awarded for academic achievement from Women in Games in 2017, and I have also recieved grants from the Girls of the Guild and Hilda Marindale to study my Masters degree in 2019. As of 2020 I was also awarded the Google Techmakers grant to continue studying to a PhD level.
I left main stream school at 14 as I have dyslexia and dyspraxia and falling behind in most classes compared to my peers, I was then educated by Oxford Open Learning. I worked for some time as a zookeeper before deciding to take the leap and follow my dream to becoming a game programmer.
Working as part of a team to achieve a game development goal
Using the agile approach to game development e.g. scrum and stand ups
Using my time effectively to get a project finished with in a defined time constraint
Communicating with my team members problems, or how functions work
I have learnt not to get too stressed when I come accross a difficult task and the answer will be found eventually
Be proud of the game I'm making and of the team I'm working with
The experience I've had with different programming languages throughout my course at Falmouth University
